Sy's Very Hungry Caterpillar 1st Birthday Party

Our little bug turned 1 this July! We are so grateful to be his parents. Thank you to everyone who was able to come help us celebrate his birthday. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. We decided to do his party based on the classic children's book by Eric Carle, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I had so much fun with this party...I got to do a bunch of grade school craft projects, which I loved! (My friends however, who I admittedly used as laborers, were probably not so thrilled about it).

Each circle was a picture from months 1-12.

Since Sy's Dad likes TOMS so much, I painted a pair of TOMS to match the dot pattern in the book for the birthday boy to wear.

...and from the pergola outside

The favors were bug catching boxes filled with gummy "caterpillars," bug tattoos, and a magnifying glass for bug hunting. The babies each got a board book about bugs.
There were hungry caterpillars everywhere.

The smash cake!

The dessert table, which featured the food from the book including ice cream cones, lollipops, chocolate cupcakes with a cherry on top, and mini cherry cheesecakes instead of cherry pie.

Auntie Tay painted a dot painting for Sy to match the pattern in the front of the book.

The fruit toss game...thanks Amber for painting the board...it looks great!

The Craft Table

The food table with foods from the book...it was so nice that this party came with a menu
